BRAIN & BODY SEMINAR SERIES 2022
by Caroline Wee, the SfN.SG Chapter’s Director of Seminars
The Brain & Body Seminar Series is co-organized by SfN.SG, IMCB’s Division of Neurometabolism, and A*STAR’s Brain-Body Initiative. It was launched late last year, with Professor Liping Zhao (Rutgers University) as the inaugural speaker. At this virtual seminar, Prof. Zhao showcased his groundbreaking research on prebiotic diets for obesity treatment. He also described a new reference-free and ecology-based approach to characterizing gut microbiota function.
The seminar series continues in 2022, with an exciting line-up that includes:
- Gary Patti, WUSTL, Oct 19, 2022, Virtual (Metabolomics in Health and Disease)
- Monica Dus, University of Michigan, Nov 23, 2022, Virtual (Food, Genes, and the Brain)
- Didier Stainier, Max Planck Institute, Jan 27 2023, Physical, organized alongside the IMCB Research Excellence Seminar Series (Metabolic Development and Function)
- Diego Bohorquez, Duke University, Feb 2023 (date to be confirmed), Physical (Gut-Brain Signalling)
The series promises to engage expert speakers in metabolism, neuroscience, and the interactions between brain and body systems every year and connect the Singapore neuroscience community with their work. As always, the SfN.SG team welcomes input from all members. If you have speakers you would like to see featured in these events, please write to me at the address below.
